This week I continue to work on my game plan. I have found all of information that I need. It has been challenge to schedule use of the smart board as my campus only has one but my campus technologist has done a great job of accommodating me.
I am going to work this week on fine tuning my action plan. I will have to do several small mini lessons with my class until we are comfortable with a whole group lesson using the smart board. Then gradually using the smart board independently in a center.
So far I have learned that my students are amazing. I know that I need to set my standards high and give them clear goals to reach them and go beyond my expectations.
You're Expanding MY ICT Toolkit
Hello Rm 222,
I hope your transition from 1st to Kinder has been a good one. Kinder is it's own world! I love 1st, but wouldn't want to do Kinder myself. I suppose the big plus is you don't feel like they all have to be readers by the end of the year. But sometimes getting them to know all their letters, sounds and numbers to 30 is hard enough. Although, I somehow imagine that your students are perhaps affluent enough for a decent pre-academic program, given all your researching work. That or you are just really good, maybe both. ;-)
Anyhow, I had never heard of kids using a smart board as a center, but that makes it seem all the more useful. Sadly, my school doesn't have a one :-( Someday, when I work at a school with AT LEAST one smartboard, I'll be less resistant to learning how to use it knowing that it can be used independently, or as a center. I'd love to hear how intensive it is on teacher preparation to use the smartboard as a center.
Take care,
CCG
Resistant at first....
I was pretty resistant at first. I had always taught first grade and was pretty comfortable with it. I am very happy that I decided to adventure outside of that box. I LOVE KINDER!!!
